Kornel Mundruczo’s Jupiter’s Moon at Cannes Film Festival

Film director Kornel Mundruczo is not a new name at Cannes film festival. His film Jupiter’s Moon (2017) was selected for the official competition of the prestigious event, celebrating the film’s depiction of a Syrian refugee trying to make his way into Hungary from Serbia along with his father and many other lost souls. It is a tale of cynicism and corruption, and one that is worthy of its recognition. We planned and executed the communications campaign for the film, working locally in Cannes during the film festival as part of an international team. Zerocom saw to it that a press screening was held in Budapest, too, while also handling the film’s launch campaign that included a public display of levitation – crucial to the film’s concept – within the downtown city centre of Budapest.

The Photographer’s House

Having worked with the innovative and progressive architectural firm T2.a – led by Bence and Gabor Turanyi – on several projects since 2013, it’s hard to pinpoint only one special campaign. However, with The Photographer’s House, the studio invited us to work on the international public relations campaign for a residential forest home that was designed and built for architectural photographer, Zsolt Batar – also a client of Zerocom. Working in a creative symbiosis with his architect friends, Batar documented the evolving aesthetic of his home, creating a series of architectural photographs that was well received by architecture and design magazines.

Cabin Fever

Seeing an idea grow, evolve and finally stand before you is core to the field of architecture; it is what inspires the great studios of the world. This is true of Zerocom’s work with Hello Wood, too, where we have been providing international public relations for the studio’s educational platform. Since then the summer programme has grown into a unique art camp and festival involving more than 20 universities and 30 countries, with participation from notable studios such as Kengo Kuma and Urban Think-Tank. For its 2018 International Summer School and Festival for Architecture, Hello Wood decided on the theme of “Cabins”, giving participants the chance to conceive, construct and celebrate the popular tiny house movement as part of a collaborative process.

6th Global Chess Festival

Zerocom was commissioned by the best female chess player of all time, Judit Polgar to plan and execute the communications campaign of the Global Chess Festival for 4 consecutive years. Due to the pandemic in 2020, the festival had to be moved entirely to the online space with over 40 educational, scientific, and art-themed programs and sports competitions. One of the highlights of the event was a historic talk with long-term rivals Judit Polgar and Garry Kasparov. Besides advising multiple Olympic Champion and grandmaster, Judit Polgar on several aspects of planning the festival, we prepared and held an online press conference before the event.

Paintings and Chefs

It’s not often anyone gets to combine the fascinating yet distinct worlds of art and gastronomy, but as part of our work with the Judit Virag Gallery and Auction House, we were able to do just that. Our communications focused on bringing young art enthusiasts to the gallery with a creative programme entitled Paintings and Chefs, a co-operation between the gallery and gastronomical whiz kid Robert Rosenstein. The evening enriched the discourse around adventurous painters of the 1920s and 1930s such as Bela Kadar, Hugo Scheiber, and Bela Czobel paired alongside inventive gastronomical creations inspired by their lives and work.

Philip de Laszlo’s lost paintings

Zerocom was commissioned by the UK-based The de Laszlo Trust to work on a public relations campaign to raise awareness to the lost paintings of Philip de Laszlo, one of Europe’s greatest portrait painters. Amongst many royalties, head of states, famous and influential people, he portrayed The Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria, Pope Leo XIII, Empress Elizabeth of Austria, U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt and many more. As part of the project, we produced a short documentary filmed in the artist’s villa-studio with the art historians, Bea Somfalvi, Nora Winkler and Gabor Bellak.

The Luxury of Nature and Human Contact

Benyei Architectural Studio, we were determined to see to it that the underlying philosophy behind the designs found their way to the public domain. While creating the plans for the house, Istvan Benyei and his team kept one thought close to their hearts: a modern-day sense of luxury should go beyond the quality of design or premium construction materials; the true luxury of a building can be found in its ability to unite family, friends and the important subdued silence of nature.

Kheiron Medical, London

Kheiron Medical is a London-based company with a mission to help radiologists detect breast cancer earlier using deep learning. The company won the UK Government Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Health and Care Awards, funding to accelerate the rollout and adoption of Kheiron’s breast screening solution, Mia™ in the UK. Our agency took part in the announcement of this prestigious award while introducing Mia™ and its benefits to the general public and medical discourse.

Bad Poems by Gabor Reisz

The works of Gabor Reisz are considered cult films; his first direction had a huge impact on an entire generation. Being given the reins of the communication for his 2018 movie Bad Poems was an exciting honour, especially when the film was inspired by his own experiences in life, giving people a glimpse of the lives of thirty-something Hungarians looking for their own path. Bad Poems lived up to the expectations and fast became a “must-see”, winning multiple awards in Torino and Monte-Carlo Film Festivals. As part of a complex and carefully planned launch campaign, we took the press to the film’s set, launched the social media platforms and organised the press screenings.
